TEAC made good DJ equipments ( brand name as Esotict ) at good prices. JVC and Panasondj equipmentic ( under broadcasts equipment division ) more on Hi-End DJ equipment. For speaker mose of USA brand ( all made in China )is okay.like JBL is good.
You don't have to spend thousands to get started. The best place to start is your local musical instrument store that sells DJ equipment.

A good starting setup would be a laptop or ipod, a mixer, two powered speakers and stands. Then add on from there.

You could do that for about $600 or so. Have fun - it is a great hobby or profession.
