My cat ran away from home and it's been a few weeks. I saw him today, but he ran away before I could even open the door. I just want to know if anyone has any tips on getting him back.

we moved recently and one of the older cats got out and it took us hours to get her back in the house. What worked for us was opening the doors and retreating from the exits so she couldn't see us, coaxing her with treats, the promise of a good meal (ie opening the can), sweet words and time. eventually when we all calmed down she became calm enough to cat ran awaycome in. I hope something works for you, good luck! i hope he comes home
for one thing, you could put up missing posters, or you could put one of those chips under his skin.
The easiest way might be to put out a cat trap with his favorite food inside. Though that might be a little expensive. Once you do get him get him a collar and a tag (a microchip works too)
If you put some food on your doorstep he might come back and you can snatch him if you see him. -really... it works... my gerbil ran away and i am dead serious... i kept leaving food out acat ran awaynd i saw him one night eating and i caught him
If normal calling and posters dont work, put a can of their food out and if they have a bed/toy they like that aswell. It may lure them back.
If you have a garage maybe leave the garage door open at night so he can go in there if he wants to. Leave food by the back door and maybe you can catch him that way too. Just be careful when you get him that you take him to the vet incase he got a disease or heartworm or something while he's been on the run.
