I just had to completely remove everything off my old computer and reinstal Windows XP and I noticed that I can't use my ethernet connection because there is no ethernet controller driver and it has a problem, I just want to know where I can get one, thanks in advance.
of course if u were able to go online then u could just download the drivers....so u have two choices..u can call the company that u got the computer from and ask them to just mail u the disk...or u can install an ethernet adapter(which is very easy) and once online just download the drivers
You need to find out the manufacturer of the NIC. Then go to their website windows xp ethernet driversand download them. If you had the disks that came with the computer, they should be included.
First check your PC manufacturer's website. Even if the computer is old, they will usually have a page where you can download driver files. Obviously, you'd have to do this from another computer and copy them over, but that would be the first place to look.
You're question is a little vague, there are several companies that make Ethernet controllers (Network Cards) . SO it depends on your pc type...if you got a recover cd / or drivers cd look for Drirvers, specifically network card drivers. If you cannot find it or do not have it...lookwindows xp ethernet drivers inside pc...and see if it's intel, 3com, or some offbrand name card that you plug your network (Ethernet) cable into. Also get the model # if possible. Then just goto their support website and download. Most onboard (Built on mainboard) network ports nowadays are intel. Hope this helps.
They are part of the 4 in 1 driver set for your motherboard. They should be on the CD that came with the board. If you don't have the CD then look on the board for the name of the manufacturer, and the model number. Then go to the manufacturer's web site and do a search for the drivers for your board.
